Shelf-Talkers

Once the healthy foods have been identified, use Shelf Talkers to draw attention to the healthy foods to increase customer purchases/choice of healthy food. The Shelf Talkers are ideal for attaching to shelves or baskets with clips. Customers appreciate information that helps them make their best purchase decision. The Shelf Talkers provide the meaning behind purchasing healthier foods to enable a well-informed purchase decision. They can be placed next to pricing signs or stickers, which also enable a well-informed purchase decision.

Cooler Clings

Cooler clings are colorful, simple ways to draw attention to healthy cold food options. The cooler clings can be printed on sticker paper, the backing peeled off, and the cling can be adhered to the refrigerator or freezer window/door. Be sure the cooler cling is level before sticking it to the window/door. Use a firm straight-edge like a credit card to smooth out the cling so it does not bubble.

Use the cooler clings on refrigerator or freezer units that have their own door and only store the food advertised by the cooler cling. For example, a refrigerator unit has the ‘vegetables’ cooler cling attached, it needs to have only vegetables (not fruit, drinks, milk, etc) within that refrigerator section.

Channel Strips

Shelf liners can help with spacing of healthy foods on shelves and can draw the shopper’s attention. Be sure to use the correct shelf liner for the type of food and make sure non-healthy items are not placed in the healthy food shelf section. For example, if the shelf is labeled with the protein shelf liner, make sure canned chicken, tuna, salmon and other protein-rich foods are on that section of the shelf. Use the protein “What is Healthy?” guide to help you decide what to put in this section.

Prompt Posters

Prompt posters can help the customer understand the shelf talker signs throughout the store and prompt them to look for the shelf talkers to help them make healthy food choices. Prompt posters are best when displayed near the door or in a space the customer will see first upon entering the store.
