Safer Food Choices for Adults 65 Years or Older Lesson Plan
Older adults have a higher risk of getting sick from food poisoning and having a more serious illness. Some foods are safer choices than others, especially for those who are at high risk for food poisoning such as older adults. This is because food such as undercooked meat and eggs, unwashed fruits and vegetables, and unpasteurized milk are more often linked to foodborne illnesses.
The goal of this lesson is to reduce the risk of foodborne illness in older adults. It can be used in a variety of settings and includes an optional slide show as well as a bingo game.
