SUPER SIMPLE SNACK MIXES

Apple Cinnamon Snack Mix

4 cups cinnamon-flavored cereal
1 ½ cups plain fish-shaped crackers or animal crackers
1 cup dried apples
1 cup raisins

1. Combine all ingredients.
2. Store in an airtight container.


Beary Good Snack Mix

Makes 16 1/2 cups

6 cups bear-shaped graham snacks
6 cups toasted oat cereal
3 cups honey-roasted peanuts*
1 ½ cups raisins

1. Mix all ingredients together in large bowl.

2. Package in individual plastic bags for each child.

Cereal Snack Mix

1 ½ cups unsweetened rice square cereal
1 cup toasted round oat cereal
1 cup small pretzels
½ cup honey-roasted peanuts
½ cup raisins
½ cup candy-coated chocolate pieces (optional)

1. Stir together.
2. Store in an airtight container.


Munchie Mix

2 cups sweetened corn cereal
½ cup raisins
½ cup peanuts*
2 cups round oat cereal

1. Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl.
2. Store in an airtight container.

Pizza Snack Mix

Makes 15 cups

5 cups unsweetened corn or rice square cereal
5 cups cheese flavored crackers
5 cups pretzels
1/4 cup vegetable oil or cooking spray
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 teaspoons dry spaghetti seasoning


1. In large mixing bowl combine cereal, crackers and pretzels. Pour oil over cereal mixture and mix until well coated or use cooking spray to coat cereal mixture.

2. In small bowl combine Parmesan cheese and dry spaghetti seasoning mix.

3. Pour over cereal mixture and stir until well coated with seasoning mixture.

4. Store leftover snack mix in an airtight container or bag.


Snack Mix Fun

To make a healthy, crunchy snack, you do not have to have a recipe. Use your imagination and see what you can put in your snack to make it uniquely your creation. You can use any kind of cereals that you have, even if it is just a small amount. Add any kind of dried fruit, nuts, pretzels, crackers, candies, and popcorn. The more variety of flavors, colors, and sizes, the more unique your snack will be. Try to include some whole grain foods in your snack and less sugar coated cereals and candy. Mix it all together and share with family and friends.
