The ChooseMyPlate graphic is one of the easiest ways to learn about healthy eating. It's simple to look at the icon and recognize how to fill up your own plate for a healthy diet. But can you learn to cook with it?
The Partnership for a Healthier America, Let's Move!, USDA's MyPlate and the nation's top recipe creators along with the photo-sharing site Pinterest have come together to offer hundreds of tasty recipes to anyone looking for healthier meals.
How do I find the healthy recipes? Each of the 18 recipe sites will indicate which of their recipes meets nutrition guidance from the US Department of Agriculture. This means you can now find delicious MyPlate-inspired recipes on sites you already visit for cooking ideas. You can also view a collection of the recipes on Pinterest. This website for home cooks gives information and tools to help them make healthy choices for themselves and their families. Check UNL Extension—s Cook It Quick webpage for links to help you get started using these recipes.
